Show up for relief, stay for personal growth

The thing is, when we have symptoms arise in the body, a lot of us wish they weren’t there. We wish we could go back to a time when they weren't impacting our health, our life, our decisions and our plans.

They can be quite motivating in the sense that we often seek out ways to manage them or find relief however we can. Which is often how people end up walking through my door.

My sessions always start with a conversation about what’s been happening for you. Often that’s something physical, but it can be emotional too, which we’ll get into further. Either way, there’s something asking for attention, and you’re arriving at Kinesiology wondering how this framework can help.

So, let’s dive in.

The first thing I’m going to do once you lie down on the table is work through a series of acupressure points related to what you’re navigating. This helps us focus the session on the area you’d like support with. If it’s physical, points related to that issue will be used. If it’s emotional, points related to that emotion will be used. There are 361 main acupoints on the body we work with, we have plenty to choose from!

What happens next is we move beyond focusing on the symptom and start to explore the broader experience more deeply. Once we attune to your body we can unpack what your experience may be inviting you to explore. This often involves a chat about your thought patterns, limiting beliefs, habits and behaviours.

And this is where Kinesiology can become such a powerful framework for self awareness.

Reflecting on your body’s signals and responses can help you see yourself more clearly. It can bring awareness to patterns in your thoughts, behaviours and stress responses which might be affecting your experience of your symptoms.

This can open the door to deep personal growth.

  • What thought loops do you keep finding yourself in? You know, the ones that keep you awake replaying conversations at 2am?

  • What limiting beliefs have a grip on your daily decisions and behaviours? The quiet ones that shape your life without you even realising they’re there?

  • What habitual ways of behaving or responding are keeping you stuck? The people pleasing, overthinking, overgiving or shutting down patterns that feel almost automatic now?

  • And, most importantly, how are these things creating stress in your internal world? In your mind, your body, your relationships and your sense of self?

I explored this idea more deeply in a previous piece on limiting beliefs and stress patterns here.

The stress we experience in our internal world has the potential to impact our symptoms. Since Kinesiology is a complementary health modality, it can help you to better understand those symptoms, which can support any work you’re already doing with your other providers.

But, more importantly, it can pave the way for heightened awareness, which can empower you to change from within.

This is exactly how I experienced Kinesiology for myself and why I came to study and then practice it.

When I was deep in my chronic illness journey, I didn’t want to write out an A4 list of symptoms for someone else, hoping to be heard. I wanted to show up for myself and allow my body to be heard.

So this isn’t just a dream I hold for you, it’s a lived experience I’ve walked.

My path is not your path. I can’t hand you a map. But I can work with you to map your own experiences, so that you come home to yourself. I want you to be so anchored within yourself that if your body speaks, you can listen.

What I’m saying is, I want you to be sovereign.

I want to work with you just long enough that you don’t need to keep coming back to see me anymore.

So sure, come to see me about your symptoms. We can use Kinesiology to support you over one session, or a few, while creating space to listen more deeply to your body. But keep your mind open to the possibility that your symptoms may invite deeper reflection about what’s happening in your internal world. It might open you up to a whole new experience of personal growth.

May you see yourself more clearly

May you learn to listen to the wisdom of the way your body speaks

May you bring awareness and compassion to the parts of you that are healing
